They have their purposes. So yeah, fairly fond of them.

Weeding my butterfly gardens. Hours will go by and I won't even notice.

Sheeeeeit. I don't really have a favorite. Starbuck came to mind almost immediately because BSG is my favorite series, but then in games I <3 Mass Effect. Tie between Starbuck and Commander Shepard.

No because the opportunity cost/economic cost, would be higher than 1 million dollars. In ten years I could make more.

If you took a rope and tied t around the earth and assumed it touched the surface with negligible thickness, how much longer would you have to make the rope if you raised the rope one meter off the surface all the way around?

Radius of earth = 6,378.1 kilometers / 6,378,100 meters

Circumference of earth = 40,074,784.2077 meters

If the radius = 6,378,100.5 meters

Circumference of earth = 40,074,787.3493 meters

40,074,790.4909 - 40,074,787.3493 = 3.141593 meters

Haha, I appreciate you saying so, but you're far too kind.

I'm not mathematically inclined enough to actually solve the question. But I do know there is a formula for calculating the circumference of a sphere when it is increased by a certain area. I don't know the formula off the top of my head.

That said, the answer would be inaccurate as the earth is not a perfect sphere. One would think the answer incalculable without a plethora of geographical elevation data which would change based on where you wrapped the rope around the earth.

You're asking for the difference between the two measurements when I don't think we have an accurate first measurement on how long a rope would be if it went completely around the earth.

I could be wrong. Far from a mathematician.
