Re: My favorite Video Game(s)
No idea, Morninstar there are alot of cool games with animals...
Tail Concerto was a favorite of mine, you played as a dog cop who piloted a mech, it was a 3d plat-former but you could also visit towns and talk to folk...
You usually fought huge bosses which were advanced craft manned by evil cats....

hm.. asking me to pick one is too hard, for now I'll just say Mass Effect 3, which all the way until the end, was my favorite game ever, now I just merely love it
oh btw: I've been eyeballing those X games, are they fun/where should I start if I decide to get them?

To me, X-Games is the Skateboard/BMX/SnowBoard/Motor Dirt Rocket Cycle games. So when I hear these different X games, I am skeptical as hell! lol. I will stick to Kerbal for now. Love my little Kerbins.

Re: My favorite Video Game(s)
Oh... I didn't Realize, X is a set of space sims in the X universe.
In the first X game you play as a experimental pilot for a type of jump drive,
due to a malfunction you end up deep in unexplored space. (These game is very old)
After that came X-Tension which was a expansion pack that was a 100% sandbox
starting you off with a single craft and letting you build your space empire, it featured no
story and took place after the first X-Game.
After that came X2: The Threat which continues the story of X-Beyond Frontier, you play as the son of the main character from Beyond Frontier, and while containing a very interesting story featured a fully sandbox game you could drop the campaign and go do other stuff, like building space stations and having ships built...
After that came X3: Reunion which continues the story of X2's main character. Featuring a updated game engine and prettier graphics. (Losing the cockpit view for a more open look.) Game features also additional campaigns that allow you to start a character that is in a specific situation and you basically sandbox to your hearts content roleplaying as that character.
After that came X3: Terran Conflict which is a standalone game that does not feature the story of the previous character, one of the main campaigns follows a member of the Terrans as someone uses AGI to create legions of controllable AI that are self learning, which Earth has a very closed policy about... (more about this in the video)
After that comes X3: Albion Prelude which sets up the universe for X:Rebirth, requires Terran Conflict to play. From what I can tell from the intro is the events leading to massive changes to X Universe and the collapse of modern space travel, requiring it to be replaced by something else....
Lastly the current X Game, X:Rebirth, instead of piloting whatever ship you want you get a nice corvette called the Albion Skunk from there you build your empire and of course if you want play a fun campaign. I haven't played it but the lets play's ive watched made me drool, sadly like all sandbox games they come out a bit buggy and as time passes the company gets them tighter...
That is the history of the X-Games :p

Sadly, I must pass on that. Sounds..... interesting. But just not for me. Fun to see it grow up graphically though. lol. Like most games. Watching/playing the first GTA on PC with it's overhead view only.... loved that.

Hopefully I destroyed any connection you had with the bike game.
Ive actually impressed mostly how the graphics changed except I preferred the cockpit huds from x-2,
x-rebirth looks very cool and while its a bit buggy (hell very few sandbox games release perfectly) I look forward to trying it one day.

I miss my SNES games. Those were AWESOME, esp. since they were my first games that I could play.
I also miss the old AoE games (most won't play on my "newfangled" Windows 7).
Right now, I'm mostly playing League, DDO, and SC2.

You are unaware of the wonders of Animal Crossing? :O
The face of evil
I mean basically you move to a new town (for undisclosed reasons) and buy a house, but have no money, so you borrow from a loan-shark raccoon, who requires constant payments and repeatedly "expands" your house and debt whenever you pay him off. To make money to pay the crazy loan shark raccoon, you do hundreds of chores for anthropomorphic animals who keep lending each other stuff then wanting it back. They reward you in ugly furniture. You can also make money shaking trees, but sometimes there are bees who sting you and screw up your face.
In your free time an arbitrary committee judges your house and tells you that it's ugly.
Basically it's the best game ever, they just made a new one for 3ds, go buy it~

Paul Proteus is unaware of how image linking works..... just because it is 2000 x 2000 doesn't mean you have to link it as its full size.... just saying.

Re: My favorite Video Game(s)
MS, if you like kerbal, you'll like the x-games, those trailers are a bit misleading. there are many ways to play the game, my favorite is the more peaceful way, only fighting to defend myself or my fleet, and occasionally to gain some money so that i can afford a new ship or factory. it'll take a pretty beefy PC though to play it on the highest settings, but if you do, it'll be breathtaking.

Re: My favorite Video Game(s)
Next on my list... a new Alienware PC.... the one I have is from 2007. And it still runs almost anything... almost. Just on low settings. So if I get a brand new one... holy shit! Sure it cost 1,300 at the time. lol. But still. It was also first gen Phsy X. Which I am SOOOOO glad I accepted. Because every fucking game started requiring it. lol

Re: My favorite Video Game(s)
@Eli
They re released age of empires 2 as Age of Empires 2 HD
@Paul Proteus
I have not owned a nintendo console after Snes...
I went NES-GAMEBOY-GAMEBOY COLOR-SNES-Playstation- and so forth.
@MourningStar
Most folks downscale images incorrectly regardless, to be honest if you didn't use a paper and pencil or a calculator to ensure you decreased evenly in your downscale then you have carelessly destroyed the integrity of the pixels....
:(
@Paul Proteus
I agree with your image linking
@MourningStar
He is ensuring the quality and integrity of the image. Nothing wrong with that.
@twisted-pixel
I am sorry, I did my best to grab a trailer of gameplay, space
combat usually gives a good idea of graphics and so forth in the
game. But as a sim you are right you can play it however you want.
I play it by ridding the universe of all pirate scum that enter my
presence but that is not mandatory. Its just how I play....
And if those nations which to support piracy in there sectors they best
get out of the way of my fleets for I will purge pirates from all sectors
of space. "This, I COMMAND!!!!" (Bonus points if you can figure out what
tv cartoon that quote is from.)

If you play borderlands 2 might snipe someone for you, or send you a pawn in dragons dogma, or help bring victory in a game I play that is mostly in japanese that I wrote a translation guide on pure function...
Though I doubt anyone here plays it so I won't bother linking to the guide.

Below are the first real computer games I played below. Prior to that I played console games (Atari, Activision, and Nintendo):
I later played every version of this game:
That lead me to play this fun game for a while:
I got lost in some other games afterwards but mostly played this game until the updates surpassed my existing hardware:
Then I stumbled upon eRepublik looking for free games.

Democracy 3 is on sale this weekend in steam, you can pick it up for $12.99, and $4.99 for the new expansion.
I know this game doesn't look like much, and tbh, first time i saw it i gave it no chance simply based on the graphics/interface without giving it time to explain the mechanics/gameplay. but i'd have to admit, this game is pretty cool when you get past the initial shock of being so different than many of the games you play.
Here's a pretty good (recent) let's play, where he does a pretty good job of explaining the premise/interface, and if you stick around until the end, you'll see how the decisions he makes culminates over time.
check it out

ETS2 - Euro Truck Simulator 2
This one occupied me for some time.
You start as a rookie and you're collecting experience points with every delivery. More experience, higher is your lvl and with new lvls you unlock skills and stuff that you can buy for your truck.
At first you don't have enough money to start your own company or buy your own truck. You'll have to work for others if you want to be your own boss later.
There's ton of modifications for this game already available and new ones are made every day, so if you like to ride a truck, you won't get bored with this easily.

Every 8 or 10 hours you become sleepy and you have to find rest place if you don't want to fall asleep while driving. :)
I've forgot to mention that there's even some program that connects with your camera and detects your head movement so you don't have to use your mouse when looking around.
If you have PC wheel, and you use all available options, it's almost like you're riding a real truck.
