Technically, it is a contraction. But it is listed, and has been for years, in the Merriam-Webster, Oxford and MacMillian dictionaries, so yes it is considered a word. It is used as a plural second-person pronoun. Most people associate it with the Southern US, but it is actually used in various countries around the world.
