Should we make efforts to consolidate with others?
Senior Thought for the Day
It is an even numbered day, so back to serious stuff:
Logic = this
The Federalist Party is the largest (and most powerful and best) Party in the Game. Therefore, we should make a concentrated effort to consolidate other parties into ours.
SHIELD/HAMMER is the MU of the largest party in the Game. Therefore, we should make a concentrated effort to consolidate other MU's in ours.
With a more united front here, we can go overseas more powerful.
A house divided...
so, I ask u all, :

Our master MEPS Recruiter has been attempting to pull in some of the smaller MUs. Not sure of the success rate just yet though.

Re: Senior Thought for the Day
Consolidating smaller parties into ours is a good idea but it raises a few questions:
1. If you're suggesting to consolidate other top 5 parties into ours, it won't happen. Specially because the mechanics work like that and only the top 5 are allowed to run congressional candidates. Plus, I doubt the other party leaderships would accept to give up their identity to join us.
2. Smaller parties might join considering the possibility to run their own representatives for congress but once again you find the identity issues. Some 6th parties don't merge with anyone precisely because they like being small and they have their own identity creased. While the changes of merge here would be higher, it would still be hard to convince.
This makes us go to the 3rd point: The best way for us to grow as a party is through direct Recruitment and my friend... Recruitment is only successful as much as retention is. With this I mean, it doesn't matter if Recruitment department manages to recruit 1000 new members if we don't have programs to retain those 1000 and in the end 999 of the people we recruited leave. It is with this thoughts that the Feds have lots of programs, forum games, contests and all that. Because this way we can provide what the game itself can't: Retention. It's a hard work, requires dedication but it is very rewarding for the party. :)
As for Military Units, that's even harder considering most people tend to be more loyal and attached to their MU rather than their party considering the game is mostly war based. So unless you are like me and you prefer politics over the military, even if you still participate actively in the last one, you'll feel more attached to the MU than to the Political party. Still honestly, I think the feds might be an exception since I don't see myself in SHIELD not being a fed and neither the other way around.
In sum, I can see your suggestion and I can see where it could potentially work but knitting that large number of people together is really hard considering the variety of identities in our country.

They are much smaller units. And it wouldn't be worth it to try and merge a party in the top 10 There hasn't been much success with getting smaller units but very little focus on it either. Most focus has been going into getting new guys and D3 and D4 players

Amen Mr. Lincoln on Recruitment & Retention. It takes a village. A big, P/H Fed village.

No, but we should absorb some 6th parties. I'm all for that.

Pressuring new players = Fine.
Pressuring established parties or MU's to merge into Feds/Shield? You're opening a very controversial can of worms sure to piss off quite a few. It's generally considered a faux pas to poach members/fighters from other parties/MUs.
