Fed History: Butthurt hater trolls (January-May 2009) Empty Fed History: Butthurt hater trolls (January-May 2009)

Good shit?
With the rise of the Federalists on the national stage with the election of Tiacha to congress in November 2008, the Federalist party began to grow in power. There's a few notable highlights of this next time period I will go over.

-The creation of RightCon, a coalition of parties against the USWP. Back in the day, the USWP was the largest and most powerful party in the country. Being in the USWP then pretty much guaranteed you a spot in Congress unless a popular figure ran against you in the state. So the other top parties, along with the Federalists, and the Nationalists joined together in what would soon be known as RightCon.

There were many notable names leading the charge of this coalition including myself, Kyle321n, PrincessMedyPi, Justinous, Cromstar, Desertfalcon, and Emerick. We came together and found popular candidates to support. We came together to try to find the right CP candidates to run, and we started the ICCR- the Independent Council on Congressional Review. We endorsed candidates for each state each month based on our collective opinions. This helped the nation find qualified candidates to run for congress. It also stopped butthurt between parties. It was a great organization tool.

The First RightCon (Day 516), by Cromstar
Attack of the zombies and the conspiracies: USWP vs RightCon (Day 519), by Gaius Julius
The 52 State Plan (Day 520), by Cromstar

-The Federalists were also growing on a national stage politically. This stage in history saw the rise of figures like Gaius Julius and Bill Brasky. They became very popular icons in American folk lore. Brasky was my mentee—he followed in my footsteps running the Department of Education. The Department of Education, in 2009, was founded and was essentially a Federalist institution. I ran the show for 6 months, probably the longest serving Secretary of Education in American history. I really believe this is where our education first roots come from. Bill Brasky started the mentor program in the eUS which continues to be a success. It has also evolved into an in-game feature. Oblige currently runs the in-game mentor toolbar that we see today. It may have not happened to quickly if it wasn’t for Brasky.

Gaius Julius was one of the best Feds ever, though. He was the first elected Federalist President of the eUS. He always stood up for what is right, in particular, against the tyranny of the USWP. Back then the USWP ran their 50 states or bust campaign. This was run by former PP Ananias in April 2009. He vowed that the USWP would run, and try to elect a candidate from them in each state. This was received with much protest by 6th parties like the Federalists which had been promised seats by then President Scrabman to run under the USWP banner. Scrabman fought hard for multipartisanship, but Ananias threw it down the drain. I don’t think purposely, though, but out of ignorance on what a negative impact it would have on the USWP. I was one of those people promised a congressional spot by Scrabman, in New Jersey at the time where I was the incumbent. Not only did Ananias kick me out, but he decided to run Lowell Kennedy, a formidable opponent, and resident asshole against me. That decision went viral. The Feds fought back in force. I resigned my spot of Chief of Staff under the Scrabman administration because he refused to fight Ananias on this decision. But Gaius torn into the USWP. He, combined with the forces of Right-con, in particular, Claire Littleton of the Libertarian Party, went on an all-out-war on the USWP. Claire ran against Kennedy and won that month under the Libertarian Party banner. But that incident earned us the name “Butthurt Hater Trolls” by the USWP. It also solidified us as a national force that could not be stopped. We were a 6th party, but we were growing in both power and size. But that growth would be slow until another Fed legend joined the party and had a big impact that summer. Her name was Fingerguns and she took the party by storm….

Read about her in episode 3.

ftr, I was SoE for almost a year in 2011-2012, but I was SoI and DoE was rolled into DoI at the time. Until Dennis McVicker came back in May(?) 2012 I had a hard time getting enough volunteers to get the thing organized enough to return to being anything. He took it and ran with it. The mentor program from time I entered the DoI until DoE got split back into its own department was a Interior concern.

Blank Keating served in the post of SoE for almost a year prior to that and was responsible for generating what is still quite possibly the most comprehensive in-game tutorial/strategy guide eRep has ever seen in the Department of Education's Information Web.

The Information Web can be accessed here for those history buffs who would like to see what the game was like two years ago: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/the-u-s-department-of-education-information-web-1651572/1/20

Ha. As one of the people helping run USWP's congressional elections back then, I remember competing against RightCon. Ananias never actually thought we'd win all 51 races, he just wanted someone running in every state. Not all 51 had real support from us, we always concentrated our votes on 20-25 or so. The unspoken purpose was to make sure all mobile votes were used up on the good non-USWP people (like Gaius and Claire) so we could focus on getting more of our people in. IIRC, after Ananias' terms as PP the USWP resumed running 6th party candidates -- I definitely did in my terms as PP.

Thanks for the history and the memories. It was a completely different country back then. Partisan politics were ugly, so glad they're not like that now.

This made me do some research. I had Mr. Peabody use the WayBack Machine and I found this old article from day 318:

Tiacha writes:

"
For a while, I was a member of the USWP. I was invited to join the party
and was excited that they'd take the time to send me a PM to join their
party. And this point, I thought they'd also want me to help in the
party. That was where I was wrong. After I joined, I was completely
ignored. I felt alienated. Then, I started hearing rumors of corruption
within the party, so I knew it was time to go.

Since then, I've received many invitations to join other parties. I
think they figure, why does a citizen with 5+ skill points in a skill
not have a political party? I'll tell you why! Once you join a party,
they ignore you! They're only looking for the votes! They're not
interested in reaching out to citizens to actively get them involved in a
party! You want to know why? They don't want others going above their
ambitions. God forbid you have an actual challenge for a party
presidency! Oh my, there's someone with actual ideas running against me
for Congress! And the bad thing is, its so hard to get enough gold to
start up your own company, or get a Q3 or Q4 house unless you suck up to
party leaders (or spend your own real money on Gold).

In short, you know why average citizens like me don't stick around?
Cause they can't get anywhere unless they kiss ass. They start out with
jobs for less than a dollar a day. And even when they get skills over 5,
they earn less than 15 dollars a day! And then, because the Gold
exchange rate is so insane and inflated, they can't save up enough Gold
to buy their own political party, to make a difference because the
system is set up against them! So, forget political parties! I'm sick of
them! They've never done anything to help me, as they don't help the
middle class. Its exactly like real life--- where the Washington
insiders help the elite while ignoring the middle class citizen!"

USWP was kind to run me under their banner, but that was after they pissed Tiacha off. I ran July 2009, so I guess during episode 3 coming up.

Ligtreb is one of the main reasons I initially got to run.

The days of Gaius, Claire, and Scrabman were when I was first joining. All this political drama was what kept me around!!

Also, Brasky. That guy was my very first mentor and really got me involved in this party. Wasn't that back when we had the Office of Assimilation or something like that? Regardless, those were good times Feds

For those interested, as the co-founder of RightCon (with Gaius Julius), there's some relevant articles in my newspaper. Specifically, this one and this other one.
