Help Trekk Trekk pick a new home! Empty Help Trekk Trekk pick a new home!

Post by Trekker Mon Jun 02, 2014 11:27 am

Well for those of you who do not remember, or weren't around... My winter went something like this:

Help Trekk Trekk pick a new home! Ice10

It started early and got icy, and snowy, and cold, and power outty. (I know that is not proper grammar; I want apologize to Eli about that.)

It led to spotty availability for me this winter, due to power outages and the internet going down. And led to some REALLY cold nights without a furnace.
Jokes were made about me turning into a Trekkercicle (Thanks EE :-p). And in the -35 degree nights (when parts of Mars were warmer than where I live) I started to rethink my path in life and why I stayed in such a cold state. So I want out before the snow comes back (which could be October in Maine). And no one seems to agree on where I should go to. So I am starting a Poal.

Vote for a new place and help me decide where I will go, if I can get out of this tundra that is Maine.

 Indubitably

True, but at least it keeps my face baby smooth and away from the sun. Though to be completely honest. The long hair bothers me more for heat than my beard does. I would probably be shaving my head before making the move. xD

I actually voted Georgia cause that is where I hope to end up some day. Though we'll most likely be making a stop around Austin, TX first.

Georgia may be nice and all. Seems like there is a lot of Zombies down that way though... :-p Which admittedly could be fun.

O.O That is a rather specific suggestion for Cali. I am not sure though, does it qualify as SoCal?

Duncan Crowe wrote:No love for New England? D:

I love New England, just want away from the 6 month winters and what not. And as I already live in New England, I gave no options in that region. I generally want somewhere significantly warmer (Cincinnati is the one exception to the warm rule)

Out of country would be nice too actually. I don't think I could afford that though. lol. But FL, AZ, SoCal in that order. Noted. lol

I say avoid California because of the crazy ass taxes we pay out here. Besides that it's the best option.

I only included Florida and AZ because sunshine. Florida is lax in taxes so it beats out Cali from a neutral standpoint, and idk about AZ's tax situations.

Keep in mind this is all from Wikipedia, and living in LA I know about the crazy ass tax rates and how expensive it is to live in this damn city lol.

I voted for Tennessee and Ohio, mostly because I like moderate climates, where a solid season of winter kills everything that's big and/or poisonous, (in terms of spiders, insects, and snakes). (for instance, here in Michigan, there are 17 types of snakes, 1 is poisonous, and it is considered to have the weakest venom of the rattlesnakes.

also: maybe don't go for Florida, what with the sinkholes that suck in entire houses and whatnot.

Valid points about killing dangerous stuff. One of the good thigns about the cold up here is everything dangerous freezes

I have been to Tampa. Wasn't bad. Landed there in a plane when I was 16. We took 275 to St. Petersburg

But I would have no one to hang out with in Texas :(

Yeah I would probably prefer Savannah. I have heard it is the cultural hub of the south east. And I may not sound it all the time, but fine arts, good local music, and tastful architecture are keys to happiness.
